As a HS baseball umpire, I can tell you that the better off the school is (think Langley), the worse the parents are.

I've noticed the opposite especially in things like travel baseball which is filled with entitled rich families.

They can't stand to lose and especially can't stand to lose to people who they perceive to spend less on baseball and who's lives don't revolve around it.

Yeah I kind of agree with others, I always associated it the other way around.

It doesn't surprise me when I find out that the teams with the obnoxious parents are from wealthier areas.

On some teams we've been on where most of the players are in schools not as academically regarded, the families might be loud but it's for cheering on their players and trying to build team spirit.

The obnoxious parents from the wealthier areas are like arguing calls with the kid refs, jawing with the parents from the other team, etc.

I originally thought this was only for a specific sport which a lot of wealthy entitled families participate in. But am seeing it in other sports too.

Your thesis seems off.

My kid's football team is terrible and as a result we have few fans...almost no students and even parents don't come to games (and almost no away games) where the kid tells them it will be a bloodbath and they shouldn't come.

Seems like the team has to be "good enough" for anyone to kind of care.

Basketball is a different story, but basketball seems to just be a rowdy environment no matter what. I think the enclosed space that amplifies screams...the fact that it is fine for coaches to scream at every call made by a ref...etc.

I just got through a season of volleyball and I did not notice this correlation.
The absolute best group we played was John Lewis and they are not top 100 in Virginia but the kids and parents were great.
But sure maybe poor parents aren't a "golf clap" crowd but I don't think i saw any misbehavior by parents all season.

Right now with wrestling, I do not see any difference in parent behavior based on school quality.

I think it might be a bit different with football and basketball and maaaaaybe baseball.
But I suspect the reasons for this are beyond my ken

Try going to a “big 3” game. It’s starts in elementary school and goes down hill.

I don't know which school you are talking about but it's not TJ. I am frequently one of only 2 or 3 parents in the bleachers.

Ironically, I’ve found that Sidwell parents are the worst. They have this passive aggressive thing going on. Most super woke, but insist on winning in the classroom AND the playing field. Even if there kid is not such a great athlete...

So you are saying poor White parents of kids in public school? Go ahead, say what you mean.

I have seen really bad behavior from wealthy parents and those you would say are from bad school districts. A bunch of Black parents once started a fight at a flag football game. The language and entitled behavior from some parents at private school games can be amazing to hear.
