We have a new Pilot as well .. the vehicle can easily fit 6 full size adults for long road trips, all basically in their own full size "captain chairs" with their own reclines and electronics etc. . My husband and I are both tall with tall kids , the second row can be captains or bench and the back row is totally full size and reclines.
I am surprised the 3rd row is that spacious, and with ample cargo space?.Did they get larger?

Where did you get that from?

The Chevy Traverse new model is pretty big too at a good price.

SUVs in general with 3 rows are sometimes hit or miss, in particular the ones with captain seats.

My wife bought a new three row SUV with captain seats but it turns out has less trunk space behind third row and with captain seats three kids cant sit in third row which means I have even less space.

The 2024/25 Traverse and Acadia grew in size a lot from the prior 2023 model. It has a boat load of trunk space with all three rows up which is rare

OP here - the Honda Pilot def drives more SUV/Truck like than the highlander .. but we were deciding between that and the Lexus TX and Grand Highlander and I hated the new Grand Highlander - the 4 c engine sounded awful, truly ... the older highlanders are great with the V6 but they were too small with 3 kids IMO. I am tall .. and like the truck/suv sit up high driver much better than a cross over or car etc. so agree , but that was a plus for me.

When I was deciding on SUVs I tested it but the Pilot drove too much like a truck. I went with Toyota highlander instead. Does it still drive like a truck?

We just bought a 2025 Pilot (Elite) and I have three kids ages 8-12.. the car has PLENTY of room , even for travel. It drives like a dream and the seating versatility is awesome. Yes we are all out of boosters and car seats but for anyone not wanting a mini van with three kids I am here to tell you that it is easily doable.
There is still trunk room, even with 3rd row up ... and it comes with roof rails that you can just get a bin on for long trips. The gas mileage my first 2 weeks is just under 20 mpg.
