Subject: Does weight loss medication take the joy of eating away?
My sisters look miserable whenever food is on the table. They're both very, very skinny "thanks" to these drugs, but I'd say it has definitely taken away their joy of sharing a meal. It also makes me uncomfortable TBH. I feel guilty simply enjoying a decent portion of good, healthy food.

You should probably learn what real food is, or at least good food that is worth eating daily. Sounds like it takes the joy out of eating super calorie dense garbage and alcohol (literal poison).

I still enjoy food, I just eat less and crave less. It doesn't affect the taste of food. It has out me off of greasy things and off of alcohol.

No, but I do stop when I’m full now. I still enjoy wine but I can only have half a glass at a time.

This. I don't have neausea but I do eat and drink less. No food noise which I love. I just go into a meal knowing I am going to eat 1/2.

I am 4 weeks on wegovy so still early days. I had some nausea early on but it has subsided. I am however less distracted by food. It is quite freeing to feel like this. When I eat I still enjoy it, as I do drinking. But just seem to need less.

In some ways I enjoy food more because I don’t feel panicked that I will overly gorge myself or eat too much or gain weight from a weekend bender. Instead I can enjoy a bite or two and have it be enough. Or if I do eat a whole dessert, know that the next day I won’t be hungry at all and will eat very little - but without any feeling of deprivation.
It is true that overall food tastes a little less good and is less appealing, especially if I’m not hungry. (And I spend a lot less time being hungry.) But I don’t feel deprived or sad about it all. It really is a fascinating peptide.

It did for me, and coffee too. Never drank alcohol so no effect on that.

It has killed my joy from food. I get full from a few bites and then don’t feel awesome. I used to love the slight buzz from a cocktail on a weekend and that’s gone too. It sits in my stomach like a sloshing nothing. I hate it BUT I am down 25 pounds in 4 months.

It hasn't decreased my enjoyment of food. But nor has it helped me lose any weight, so there you go!

Take joy from the communal aspects of food. Change your mindset.

I have no side effects other than I get full quickly, so I eat less. I still enjoy my food.
I rarely drink, so I can't comment on alcohol tolerance.

I think some people deal with a lot of nausea, this is what has stopped me from taking it

I think eating good food is one of life's best pleasures and also love having drinks/dinner with friends... I'm thinking about weight loss medication (about 30lbs overweight) and from what I understand, it makes people less hungry, but does it impact taste and enjoyment? Does alcohol tolerance change (other than decreasing due to weight loss)?
