We have a folding drying rack over an absorbent mat. You could also just do the nap and dry/put away right after washing. I also have an over the sink drying rack that I thought was attractive but cannot hold much in reality

I got this one which can be placed inside the sink. It holds a lot and the dishes are not that noticeable.

So you just don’t obsess over having a perfectly tidy kitchen at all times. We live in our homes after all.

This is where real life convenience triumphs insta reels. We have a drying rack next to the sink on the island. We need it for the dishes we just rinse or hand wash. I have no qualms using it.

You'll need a drying rack on the Island. A nice drying rack with clean drying dishes does not look bad.

See my post above where I used the 2nd sink in the divided sink as the drying station. Most of the time the dishes are barely noticeable with the sink being quite deep.

We had this set up at our last place and hated it. There is NO good place to dry your dishes.

Dry the dishes after you wash them. We also never have dishes just sitting in the sink and I am far from a neat freak.

I have a double sink where the dish drying area is 1/3 the total size.

We wash bigger pots and pans by hand. Then dry them with a towel and put them away right after.

I am not a neat-freak, but we never have dishes sitting in the sink. (Unless it's after a major dinner party when not all dishes fit into the dishwasher, which happens maybe 3-5 times a year). All dishes go from the table straight to the dishwasher. FWIW, our sink is also in the island and the only thing that I find annoying is that water splashes occasionally and when the kids sit down to do their homework, their stuff gets wet.

Hopefully there's a dishwasher next to the sink? Put in a garbage disposal, and just ... do dishes after each meal. Why would you just leave dishes sitting in the sink?

We are moving to a house where the only kitchen sink is in the island. I am imagining it will be an eye sore with dishes in it and next to it. Any tips for this setup?
