This explains the crickets from our college office. Thanks!

when you are on a RL team, you have to do all the work yourself. You have to reach out to the coach, you have to set-up the ID camp, you have to make a video and send to the coach before the ID camp....hardly any RL coach's help get their kids on a college team....dirty little secret is only the top team send kids to college....RL teams and lower send 1-3 kids to college per year

Well, you should do this even in an ECNL team. Don't relay on others.

Top D3 is possible, especially if you would be a full pay family. Your kid has to be smart, but soccer can be the hook that gets them chosen over a similarly qualified non-athlete. If you’re ECRL and targeting a NESCAC or top STEM school, go to ID camps at the specific schools the summer after junior year and be in communication starting junior year.

McLean- the team is put through all the college showcases at the RL level. Players get support for any colleges they are interested.

Yes, but they are mostly going to D3 schools, which don’t offer athletic scholarships. If someone is saying they got a scholarship and it’s a lesser known D3, they most likely received substantial academic merit. If it’s an academically prestigious D3, they are either paying full price or receiving financial aid to meet their school-determined need. There are examples of ECRL girls going D1, but they’re the unicorns.

GFR has had players in the past commit to both D1 and D3 schools but that was mostly due to the individual coaches providing assistance with the process. Now that those coaches are no longer at GFR, there is no support or help at all on the boys or girls side with college recruiting. If you want to play in college and you can't get on an ECNL or GA team, look at the bigger clubs like Mclean, Loudoun, Arlington, etc. where they at least try to help with the process.

For McLean- they make highlights reels, go to showcases, reach out to coaches and go to Ud camps for schools they are really interested in. They get support from McLean too

Girl from NVA RL went to UMD. Think her offer might've been pulled though before signing day.

Know a case from boys - Maryland recruit. Within the past year or two. Only one (rest were typical MLSNext and overseas European Academies)

Let’s face it: at least on boys side lots of (undersized) talent in ECNL-RL.

As my son jokes (on NL) RL is the same or better only minus 5 inches

Question is clear. Not interested in a debate on GA vs NL/RL please. Serious question. Please share how it worked. Girls.
