If you can afford to drop 5-10k for an on-site resort and Genie+/LL to skip lines, then go for it! But I wouldn’t recommend it as a once-in-a-lifetime trip for non-UMC families.

I think it is worth it for a short trip, taking kids out of school to go at an off time. No need to stay at one of the most expensive hotels but definitely stay on property.

Tokyo Disney is what Disney World used to be, no genie+ nonsense, tickets half the price.

If you don’t do it once when your kids are the right age you’ll regret it. If you do it a second time you are a fool.

Well, I had not been to Disney World pre-pandemic. but we went, DH and I, for the first time in October 2023. And we had such a great time we went back in May this year.

And a beach week isn’t necessarily that much cheaper - generally more expensive accomodations, need to rent a car, flights more expensive.

yes it’s worth it because everything other than the tickets is cheaper than most vacation options. Flights to MCO are cheap, hotels are cheap (if you pick right), no need for car rental (if you pick right) and food costs aren’t that bad. If you don’t enjoy rides, characters, and the fun hokey stuff (eg Carousel of Progress) then it’s probably not worth it and never has been.

All travel has gotten more expensive since the pandemic.

Here’s the thing about Disney world - you have to pay the money to do it right (genie+, staying on property). Otherwise it’s more likely to be miserable and a sunk cost. You also need to research the parks you’re going to and have a strategy so you know where you’re going and when. If you plan well, you’ll get a lot out of it.

Friends went recently. They didn't give details but said they aren't sure it's worth it anymore.

Last time I went to Disney World prepandemic I paid $230 for a 2-day ticket this included fast pass back then.

Just went to buy tickets for the same weekend and it's $320 for a 2-day ticket which not longer includes fast pass. I'd have to pay extra. I'm not to doing the math, but this looks like a lot more money for less.

So whole I love the Disney experience I'm wondering if Disney World is still worth it? Do you get anything new that I'm missing to justify this crazy cost increase? What do you think?
