Google (or Amazon), silicone oven guards to prevent burns. Life changing, and mine were just a few bucks at Home Goods, where I went, "where have you been all my life," and bought them on the spot.

I don't know if OP has the same problem as I do, but I'm short, and small, and I always burn myself on the inside of my arms, because I have to stick half my arm in there to reach whatever I'm taking out. I have oven gloves and mitts, and those help a little, but none of them are long enough (there are long ones, but they tend to not come in small sizes) to cover the areas where I burn myself. I usually wear long sleeves, as that helps a little.

Yes mine glide, they are full extension on ball bearing (wolf electric oven). It’s great for heavy baking dishes.

Yes, I think mine are on ball bearings because they seem to glide, you are not really pulling and you don't get any screech noises.

Mine do, and the oven is definitely quite old as it came with the house. I always wear elbow length silicon gloves when I using it though.

My GE oven's instructions say to rub vegetable oil (i.e. soybean oil) on the side rails of the racks. That works for me and lasts until the next self-clean.

Lubricate the sides of the rack with graphite powder.

After I run the cleaning cycle, the graphite is burned off and needs TO BE replaced.

I am sitting here nursing yet another burn from trying to reach into a lower oven rack. My oven is at least 12 years old, as it was here when I moved to this house. The oven shelves or racks are very hard to pull out. When I watch the GBBS their ovens always have racks that slide out easily, which would seem to make getting things in and out much easier (and safer). Is that a feature of most ovens now? That alone might push me over the line to getting a new one (the crazy inconsistent temp problem I mostly solve with a good thermometer).
Thanks.
