P-Tech gives you an associates degree and most go on the a 4 year university, including UMD comp sci.

Do they enroll at UMD as freshman or as juniors?

They have to apply to UMD as freshman, because they don’t have the associates degree yet. But after they graduate and send transcripts they can enroll in junior level courses. I think they still do freshman housing.

Can’t speak to P-Tech but I’ve heard good things about it.

APPS is a Signature program so only available if you are inbounds to Clarksburg. Does a good job building a cohort of students and they take 3 classes together plus field trips and special presentations. There is also foreign country optional (cost) field trips.

If anyone had/has kids in either of these programs, tell me more about it. How is the program? Is it better than regular offerings in high school? Worth the drive if you live further away?
