Do you have a hook at Vandy? It’s a much tougher admit than Emory.

It is not clearly. It's all the same now

The acceptance rate at Vandy is half that of Emory for ED1. It’s very difficult. If it’s your kid’s dream, then go for it, but it is more common practice to move to slightly less selective schools for ED2.

The acceptance rate does not tell the whole story. Vandy, like NYU, and USC are throw away app schools. Kids apply just to say they applied. Emory is not that so the quality of applicant is likely higher.

Emory throwing shade at Vanderbilt? How moronic. Emory's ED admit rate is 40%, Vanderbilt's is 15%.

Throw away app schools? What does this mean?

+1

I’m sorry, OP. Hope your DC is taking it okay. WF or Davidson or something similar might be more successful ED2?

I don't see where she asked for advice.

People are just trying to help set her kid up for a good result. Best of luck to the student!

According to our counselor the outcomes show otherwise. There are instances where students with lower #s were admitted to Vandy (also instances where higher #s were rejected, in fairness)
