950 is too much!
I would seek out a 2nd and even a 3rd opinion.
A regular, not deep, cleaning should suffice.
Like a mechanic, it seems like you are being upsells.

I am surprised that after 30 years all you need is 1 deep cleaning. I didn't see a dentist for 10 years and it took a lot more than that to clean up teeth, gums, fill grinding, etc.
I'd probably confirm what exactly a deep cleaning entails.

You should never told them it was that long since you have been they are robbing you get the regular cleaning and keep going back every six months.

I was a single Mother + I didn’t have any dental insurance…now that my kids are grown I have saved up some $$ to finally see a dentist!

My teeth are in good shape > I had a check-up (exam/xrays) today and was quoted $950 for a full teeth deep-cleaning.

I just went to a local clinic nearby - and will be paying in all ca$h - and was wondering if this price is on par with what a deep-cleaning costs.
No laser needed.

Thx!

Your story could be my own - too long between dentist visits, too many other expenses to manage without insurance. I have an appoint for cleaning scheduled in the New Year so I will be curious if I encounter the same response. Keep us posted.

And this is why I'm enjoying all the memes claiming Luigi was at Bible study on December 4 and not spending time reading the "what about his wife and children?" posts. We should be doing better than this.

I just needed deep cleaning (it was called “scaling and root planing” per my EOB) and it was $75 per tooth (I needed it for all 4 back molars). So if it’s that and you have a lot of areas that need it, then I guess $900 could be reasonable. For a regular cleaning, even my expensive non-insurance participating dentist charges $175.

I do not know what a deep cleaning is. It's high for a regular cleaning...but cheap for 30 years of buildup.vvIcwoujd ask how it differs from a standard cleaning and if the standard would be ok

PP...so by deep cleaning...is it periodontal treatment called "scaling"?

https://www.mouthhealthy.org/all-topics-a-z/scaling-and-root-planing

Anything periodontal gets marked up.

Being clear about the procedure may help people comment more accurately.

It seems like a lot to me, but I have insurance and am out of state.

If you didn't have cavities, then you probably eat right and don't have gum disease, so what are they cleaning?
