Louise is lovely. Old names are in. I know kids named Maude and even a Mildred. If you do Louisa, everyone will call her Louie-sah like Encanto (and will assume that's who you named her after).

Louise Charlotte flows funny to me because the transition from the S sound to the soft Ch sound is awkward. The A in Louisa transitions better to Ch.

I like either Louise or Louisa as a first name, but Louisa sounds better with Charlotter IMO.

I know you're not doing that, but first names are sometimes hyphened. There's an order to it: you can get a Charlotte-Louise, but rarely a Louise-Charlotte. More often, it's Anne or Marie that's used first with another first name. Anne-Laure, Anne-Marie; or Marie-Therese, Marie-Jeanne, etc. There is a Charlotte-Rose in my family.


I’m not French but I was going to specifically post that “Louise Charlotte” sounds weird to me and like you got “Charlotte Louise” backwards. Louisa sounds warm and Southern to me. Both are beautiful

They’re both pretty. Sounding old-fashioned is not an issue, it’s very fashionable to be old-fashioned.

I think Louisa Charlotte flows better, but if you love Louise, go for it. There’s no reason not to pick the name you like best!

Middle name will be Charlotte. Last name is common and monosyllabic.

We prefer Louise but worry it’s too old-fashioned. Emma Stone and Mandy Moore both named their daughters Louise in recent years so maybe it’s coming back? Thoughts?
