It's too small for my eight-year-old and they aren't allowed to wear tech suits in competition anyway.

I am the previous poster. 8 year-olds are allowed to wear tech suits at meets. I have seen a few who wore tech suits at recent mini meets.

Some tech suits are 12&U approved and some aren’t. Hand me downs from a now college swimmer likely aren’t legal.

It's almost as if Arena and Speedo made the rules. Nope, no hand-me-downs allowed.

I’m confused. They can hand down, just not to a 12&U, which was the post I was responding to. My DD is 14 and a size 22 tech suit. She could use it. The sizing isn’t analogous to regular suits.

My DD (8-y-o) is a Dolfin brand size 30.

tech suits follow different sizing. my 5 11 female wears a 30 practice suit, but 22 speedo tech suit. 29 tyr, 26 arena.

My 14 yo and your 8 yo are not wearing the same type of tech suit. There are different types for different ages and the sizing is different. Your 8 yo cannot legally wear the type of tech suit (bonded seam) that is only approved for 13+. Your 8 yo - if wearing a kneeskin - can only wear a 12&U suit (stitched seams). The sizing isn’t the same on these two very different types of suits, which use very different materials and are sold at very different price points.

Those are suits with stitched seams. Not what most people mean by tech suits.

Google ‘Leveling the Playing Field’. There are quite a few drop boxes around the DMC.

This and I think PVS started something to give some of the high school swimmers tech suits in DC.

Hello - My swimmer has gone to college. We have many female tech suits that, while used past the "8 swim rule", still have some life in them. Does anybody know where I could donate them? They are mostly size 22.

Thanks!
