I also hate that goat smell. I would get the dulce de leche to be safe. You KNOW you're gonna smell it! Smells like a barn.

Has anyone here used/tasted Cajeta? Planning to make chocoflan (per my other thread), and Cajeta appears to be the authentic caramel for it. Thing is, I HATE all things goat - goat's milk, goat cheese, they all have a distinctive taste/smell that I don't like. I'm wondering if Cajeta also has that, before investing in a bottle of this stuff. All the descriptions I have read say that it's distinctive from every other time of caramel including Dulce de Leche, but doesn't address this question.
