I think that’s a really silly thing to be embarrassed about. It’s accounting, not values.

Hope that’s not sarcastic. We agreed as a family to do this instead of gifts in-family. We never spend this much on gifts, but we all have winter coats and shoes. So for me, it feels like a lot of spending at once, though there’s nothing that seems excessive for the receiving kids.

Definitely just ask the organizers. They will have the correct answer and a form if you need it.

I don't think so..there is no charitable org involved.

We agreed to provide gifts for a family identified through a local DMV government social services agency. So, it’s government, not a charitable organization. Is the money spent tax deductible? We have receipts for what has turned out to be nearly $1,000.

For the record (re: complaints on other threads) the wish lists were so reasonable I could cry and we tried to get everything. Winter coats and shoes for teens just cost a lot.
