Starts at 8u. One year groupings until High School.

Thank you, that’s helpful as something that might be a good fit if his age becomes an issue. How do you typically find a travel team? He has played in the little league but didn’t play this year.

PP here. My son started at 12u- he had no interest starting any earlier, which was good, as I only wanted one season of travel and Little League overlapping.

It does go by one year groupings. You could certainly choose to have your son play with his graduating year so he would be technically playing up on 15u (in my example) but you'd be well within your rights to have him play in the correct age group at 14u. There is one potential issue with him playing 14u which is he would get one fewer year playing on the big field before he entered high school, but that may not bother you.

We do summer swim. The cut off is actually May 1 so it’s favorable.

I have a September birthday kid who went to school on time in a state with a September 30th cut-off. May is not young for grade.

What’s some good sports that have worked out for your young for the grade kids? This is for a late May birthday in an area that 90 percent of kids who play sports are redshirted from January.

He likes almost all sports and plays 3 grade level ones already (lax, flag and basketball) so I want one option that is age based since many kids are already a full year older so it’s not as much of an issue to keep up.

We are in the south in a very wealthy area so this is the norm. I’m not interested in debating about this, just want some positive suggestions of things that worked out for your kids in a similar situation.
