I don’t understand why people have such a hard time responding especially when it’s a email/text message. You have three options, just pick one! It’s not that hard!

If you use evite then it will send reminder 2 days before the event. I only confirmed with a closer friend of mine once, but it turned out she didn’t plan to come and didn’t want to rsvp no neither. I never asked anyone else to confirm.

Reach out and say you’re trying to get a headcount.

We have a December birthday and the responses are often late, even if I reach out. People are trying to juggle a million things and a kid party isn't high priority for the adults. No non-responder has ever come to a party in 3 elementary school years.

I send one reminder, either email or text. Just some other avenue other than Evite itself. If they don’t reply and don’t read the invite, I delete them from the invitation. If it’s a venue party or a home party where I can accommodate an extra kid or two, I just keep them on there and they can RSVP yes at the last minute if they wish. Over the years I’ve found two these parents are and I just don’t invite their kids sometimes. It’s too stressful.

I once made the mistake of not reaching out only to have to mend fences after the party with two moms who did not receive the invitation. I felt terrible enough that I never assumed "silence=no" again.

Can you try to text them? I accidentally marked an Evite and a paperless post as “junk” just one time each in Gmail, and they’ve gone straight to junk ever since no matter what I do.

On paperless post it says if they’ve opened it or not. I assume other invite sites show the same. So if they opened it and didn’t reply then yes, assume they aren’t going.

I totally missed a friend's invite and I'm glad she nudged me in person about it, fwiw. I don't think I even saw the notification when it first came in.

Depends on how close the party is. I’ve had parents not reply and then respond Yes the week of.

I only reach out if I have a personal connection with the parent (other than our kids being in the same class); otherwise I assume no response is a no and I've never had anybody show up after not responding.

When is the party? When I was still doing all-class parties I always got a few last minute "nothing better came along" RSVPs.
