I have to take ds tomorrow for an 8:30am flight. I just told him we’re leaving at five o’dark for a 20 minute drive. 😂

Why not just drop him off at Pentagon City? No traffic issues then and it's 3 minutes on the train

Thanks for the tip. It’s on my way to work in Alexandria so I’m already going that way. I’ll slow the car down and toss him out.

We flew into DCA and got an uber around 2pm today. It was fine but I did see plenty of people dropping off and picking up others 3 lanes out.... I commented to my husband that it shouldn't be allowed- it's dangerous and also creates the back up. They really need to restrict the passenger drops to 2 lanes only.

Pro tip: drop off on Crystal Drive and walk ten minutes into the airport. There’s easy sidewalk access all the way.

And one where we should have arrived at 7 pm but it was closer to 8 pm that was a total shitshow. We saw someone walking from GW Parkway all the way in. However once I dropped her off my daughter was through security before I had even moved down two doors to exit.

Same here. We were there at 5pm. DC was through security before we have moved down one door. The way into the airport looked twice as bad then when we arrived.

FYI - My DS had a noon flight today.
We left at 9:15 from DC as we had no idea what traffic or security would be (and I remember neighbors telling me how bad it was last year)
No traffic.
The only slow down was the light in the airport.
We also were tracking the lines for security and everything was less than 10 minutes.

Generally agreed- Metro is so much better now in 2024 than it was even just 2 years ago. But our most recent departure was 8 AM on a Saturday. No trains early enough to get there.

Pleasant and fast are definitely not how I would describe Metro. Ever

I would say just get on the metro, but you probably wouldn't know about the backups until you got too close to exit to Pentagon City or Crystal City.

Once had the opposite issue- was on the metro going to DCA, when something happened up ahead on the tracks and they enjoyed the train at Pentagon City. Had to rush up and grab a taxi, ended up waiting for 10 minutes because of all the people,

Right, but as someone who’s lived here for over 30 years, it’s never been this bad. There is a one mile back up. That’s unusual.

Yeah I’m seeing on social media that it’s a total shite show. People are getting out of cars and walking up on the Parkway.

I have lived here for 15 years and never seen traffic so bad. The last 1.8 miles before pulling in to the airport took me over an hour. Yikes.
