Signaling is the right thing to do, but backing in is just obnoxious.

The person who can't drive forwards, not to mention backwards, showed up!

HI!

You guessed it, the car backed up after I pulled in and the driver flipped me off.

If you’re waiting for a spot, does it matter if you’re in front of or backing into the spot?

They were wrong. People who back into parking spots are self-important glass bowls. This is exponentially true at busy times like this. Honestly, they should be dragged out behind the store and be shot in the head for that shit.

Yes, this is how the rules work.

You're OK, OP. Going forward has priority over backing up.

If you have to think this much about a parking spot, you’re doing something wrong in your life.

Not OP, but I agree.

If the driver passed it, and was signaling to back in... they were in the wrong. That's not how parking lots work. If you wanted to back in (which is so obnoxious) you still wait BEFORE the soon-to-be-open spot.

You were wrong and I think you know that. They were there first. They were waiting to safely pull their car into the space. And you took it knowing they were waiting. That wasn’t fair or courteous.

He should have had his reverse lights on not his blinker if he was intending to back up. Wrong signal.

You were in the wrong. Waiting blinker wins.

No, it doesn't. But mistakes will happen.

I was at the mall today and saw someone getting ready to back out of a spot. There was a car further ahead with its blinker on in the direction of the spot but the car was ahead of the spot in question, meaning it would have had to back into the spot opening up. It wasn’t clear to me if they were waiting for this spot or for another one further ahead. When the spot opened, I hesitated for a few seconds and the car didn’t back up so I pulled in.
