I take oral minoxidil and finasteride daily. Nutrafol when I remember. A good, high dose of estrogen/progesterone. And I just started washing with a ketoconazole shampoo 2x a week to address any surface androgens.
There is RCT evidence behind all of this (nutrafol evidence being the weakest).
By doing the above I have turned around menopausal thinning hair.
fwiw - to the women on HRT, if you take testosterone for libido or "feelings of well being," you're causing your hair to thin. You may have good reasons to add testosterone to your HRT, but you need to know it's thinning your hair. I find a lot of my friends don't know this.

I haven't but there is some evidence that they work.

I take a combo of minoxidil and dutaseride. Don’t waste time on anything else. All the supplements and natural shampoos in the world can’t compare to oral meds.

It takes oral rogaine some time to work but two years later my hair looks great. It took about 3 months to notice a difference, but by 9 months I was sure. Now I look at pictures from before and cannot believe how wide my part was!

It often does not work. Look into wigs--there are some wonderful options for white women now.

Shampoo won’t help. Rogaine can help.
I saw some increased volume after I started a high dose of HRT

Start looking into wigs. These shampoos are simply placebos and will not work well for the long term.

I've been using the shampoo and conditioner from Vegamour along with the drops. Can't say the drops are slowing or reversing any hair loss, but the other products are probably the best thickening shampoo and conditioner I've ever used. I also started using my husband's Keratase thickening spray for styling and it works better than the ones I was using for women.

A shampoo is not going to fix this if it's related to hormones. You have four choices: 1) do nothing, 2) over the counter topical rogaine, 3) supplements like nutrafol or 4) prescriptions that work like oral rogaine etc. I take oral rogaine after doing the other 3.

My hair isn't falling out per se but the decline in volume post-menopause is noticeable. I generally wash 2 - 3 times a week depending on how often I exercise (can't stand the itching from dried sweat). Help!
