Me three! It's a perennial and our ravenous deer leave it alone. It blooms May-November. Cross vine is nice too, but sends up additional shoots from its roots and spreads horizontally that way, which is great if you're trying to cover a chain link fence like we did. Native honeysuckle is less aggressive than cross vine.

Cross vine. Pretty flowers that attract pollinators and not as rampant as trumpet vines.

Adding that a native plant supports the pollinators living in your yard, a nice way to support nature!

You could try a climbing jasmine plant. I'm in Florida so we have Confederate jasmine - which smells incredible and is very hardy. I just googled and I think Madison jasmine is the one that should do well in your climate.

But if you can search out a native plant, that'd be best! Stop by a local native nursery to ask for recs.

OP here. Thanks for suggestions! Should have mentioned earlier -- prefer perennials. Any other ideas?

Is there a plant / flower that fits this description? Looking for something to ultimately climb and grow along a small, black wrought-iron fence in my backyard. Medium sun in NoVA. Lots of deer so ideally something they don't like. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
