For full-time AAP purposes kids are compared within their specific elementary school. Plus the age norming will be several months younger fall versus spring, which makes a difference in the scaled score that is used to determine in-pool status. So it's not a big deal.
IIRC they've flipped it back and forth between fall and spring several times and also come this.close to getting rid of it entirely, since the CogAT non-verbal tests the same skills.
Actually, this is the last year of NNAT contract of FCPS. So, they switched to Fall and will be their last NNAT test. Moving forward, FCPS students will only have Cogat test.
