there is extremely limited seating. The basic deal with any winter swim meet is to dress in thin layers- if at all possible leave the heavy jacket etc in the car and run into the building. You will want to immediately start stripping when you get in the bleachers, but they are packed- so you will need to hold the layers etc on your lap. Your best option is to volunteer to time. Then you will have a place to put you purse, jacket,etc- and a great view.

No, that wouldn’t be possible. There are limited bleachers on the deck or you can watch from the upstairs hallway overlooking the pool. Actually, I guess we did sit outside during Covid because we couldn’t go inside, so I guess you could still bring a field chair and sit on the pavement but you can’t see much.

I'm 50 and I remember going to the Reindeer Mini Meet when I was growing up around here! It's just a bit more festive on the whole. Good times.

Your coach is supposed to get them to you. It’s on them, not the host.

No relays, but yes caps for heat winners. I see ribbons on the official’s table at all the York mini-meets but it doesn’t seem like they’re great about getting them to other teams, as my kid didn’t get hers last year or from this year’s Friendship meet? Reindeer in particular is fun because the sessions are all boys or all girls, so the energy is high and there’s a lot of camaraderie amongst the swimmers. My oldest is swimming in college, and I still have fond memories of the Reindeer Mini Meet

Relays, heat winners, lots of energy, cute shirts. I still have the meet program covers (probably don't have paper copies anymore ha ha).

Bring cash bc they sell meet T shirts!

It’s fun to meet parents from clubs our kid usually doesn’t swim against, too.

The heat winner ribbons used to be rainbow colored, too. (Still might be— they were pretty.)

Providence is packed. The kids are almost forced to talk and play with those around them, whether friends or strangers, because they're all in close proximity.

If you're working clerk of course, it's an absolute madhouse.

Wear shorts and a t-shirt.

Those mini meets at Providence are early and HOT. Not saying they’re not fun for the kids, but dress accordingly!

A couple parents and one coach said it’s a fun meet. Is it true? If so, what makes it fun?

I read that they give out caps to heat winners and ribbons to the first 16 in each event. That’s pretty cool.
