Unless I know you well, I am probably not going to be in your fridge assembling a meal for myself. Put the food out for your guests..doesn't have to be in a formal way.

Why would you invite strangers you don't know well to your house at all, to say nothing of a national holiday devoted to family?

Wouldn't you know them well if you were staying with them?

If you aren't serving a meal, I assume that you are not really expecting people to eat. It would be impolite to make a meal for myself when you are not eating. Staying with my mom would be a different story (though she would for sure put out sandwich fixings for people to grab) but most other people no.

We set out a tray of deli meat, cheese, rolls, crackers, sliced veggies, fruit. People can make sandwiches or just snack.

Everyone is kind of milling around working on jigsaw puzzles or playing board games, so nobody really wants a sit-down lunch. We serve turkey dinner at 4, so we do all want a little bite to eat mid-day, but definitely not anything big.

I don’t “serve” lunch to houseguests - I stock up on sandwich and salad fixings and ask people to help themselves when hungry.

It sends when everyone wakes up. A breakfast casserole (assembled the night before) and fruit could work.

People need breakfast and lunch before a 4pm Thanksgiving? Ugh. I'd have sandwich fixings available. I assume the issue is for children?

Cheese, hummus, veggie tray. Very light.

We usually put out croissants and chicken salad/egg salad for sandwiches. Some years when it’s really cold, a pot of soup with crackers.

We have some nuts and deviled eggs out, but we also eat earlier.

Just have breakfasty or snacky foods available throughout the morning and afternoon. Charcuterie is fine.

We are hosing Thanksgiving anc eating dinner at 4. We have guest staying with us. What do we serve for lunch? Charcuterie board? Hot appetizers? I’m overwhelmed with dinner planning and just realized I need to figure this out too
