I agree with this. A 7 year old doesn't need to be training at Baseball Zone. And I say that as a parent of an intense HS baseball player.

Also be aware that Baseball Zone has had some issues:

There has been no word from the owners as to how they were going to address this type of thing going forward.

PP here.

OP, have you looked into Baseball Zone for year-round, indoor instruction? My son has done some private and group sessions there.

I would not say this is the camp for you if you are looking for serious instruction but it was a very good experience for DS. He went for a couple weeks for two summers.

When he was older DS did the specialized pitching and hitting half day “camp” with the Tbolts (also college players coaching). Not sure if Big strain does something similar, but that was excellent. The half day couple of hours was perfect for a 12 year old who was aging out of camp and the guys who coached those were outstanding.

Just here to add my son also had a good experience w/ the Thunderbolts camp. It was also more convenient for us location-wise.

Big Train is not great for serious baseball instruction but can be really fun if your player wants to be around college baseball players.

Big Train games are a great family event. We go to their games all the time, but send our kids to other baseball camps.

My kids have done it twice and had fun. The general camp is a lot of games. The kids love getting signatures of the players (who are also the coaches) and seeing them in games. Last year, my kids did the specialty camps - pitching and catching - and loved those.

The downsides are there's no inside portion in the event of extreme weather (heat) or inclement weather (rain), and no refrigeration for food.

Does anyone have any experience with Big Train Baseball camp in Maryland (for a 7 year old)? My DS is into baseball these days and the dates and location work for us, but I can't seem to find anyone that has done it before. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
