1. He needs to tweak his diet. Bad odors mean bad health. Seriously. Maybe he has to cut down on certain types of food (I can't have beans, for instance), or maybe he's lactose intolerant, or maybe he's constipated and needs to go more regularly and therefore he needs more fiber and drink more water... it's doing to be a while before he figures it out.

2. You don't have ventilation in the bathroom he can turn on? We have ours on a timer. You pick the time you want, and leave. It turns off after the allotted time.

3. Open the windows every day. Fresh air is good for you. I open them even when it's well below freezing.

4. Charcoal is good, but don't use scents to mask odor all the time - as you said, you'll be repulsed by the real thing after a while, and you never know what slightly toxic ingredients you're breathing in.

If your husband's bowel movements are that bad, it might be time to see a doctor. That is not normal at all, OP.

I just discovered Zorb. It's a non-scented spray that neuralizes bad smells. It's the best!

Poo pouri works very well too.

When one of my family members was in this situation, we came to a very belated realization that they were lactose intolerant. You can’t control what people eat outside of the house, but if you have a chance over the next few holidays or long weekends, I would try to meal plan in a way that just happens to avoid dairy and see if that helps.

They also make those odor absorbing bags that you put out that we used on top of our closets when we had an animal die in our inaccessible (to us) roof void. They work well for that and it’s probably the worst smell I can think of.

Keep it clean and air the house out regularly. No extra chemicals required.

I'm looking for an odor neutralizer that doesn't have a strong recognizable scent. Does this exist? The problem is that we use orange spray in our bathrooms. My husband has unbelievably powerful odors in the bathroom and it ends up smelling like a rotten orange. So now I have an aversion to oranges in real life. Is there an unscent deodorizer? I already have charcoal neutralizers in the bathroom hidden under the sink cabinet.
