I just bought a new Iphone and was pressured into this. The salespersons kept saying that you can get 5 lines for less than the price of four (for our family of four) and you will save money even if you don't need the fifth line. I just need to make sure I cancel after 3 years.

I don't understand why anyone would need a second line on their phone unless they want to combine a business and personal phone.

It's possible that the salesman may be correct. There may be a specific promotion or something like that that is valid at this particular time that makes it cheaper. I would still be skeptical. (Why do they call them "lines," anyway, when the service is wireless?)

Yes. Sales guy gets commission. Consumer gets a bigger bill.

My husband and I had a plan through Verizon for two lines and no contract.

Just signed up a 36 month contract with the same company and got 2 new replacement phones for free.

The sales rep told us to add another two lines to our plan to lower the cost of our plan. I’ve read that there’s a lot of pressure on sales people to “add lines” and this feels so sketchy… The paperwork we were given does not make a lot of sense.

Has anyone done this in the past and gotten burned by hidden fees somehow?
