I know you said no graphic novels but I'm suggesting the Nathan Hale Hazardous Tales books anyway. They're nonfiction but really fun and they have more text than most graphic novels.

My son likes those and also like Geronimo Stilton which isn't technically a graphic novel, not short though.

My son loves the series and we are looking for similar books/series, but nothing so far has stuck. Any recommendations? Nothing scary please. Looking for short chapter books, not graphic novels (which he already reads plenty of and has favorites). Thank you!
