OP, my HS junior used to only wear sweats and hoodies and Tshirts but completely changed up his look this year.

His new go-to stores are Hollister (the teenage A&F), Abercrombie, H&M and Uniqlo.

And yes, Tshirts under the flannel shirts. These stores all have coordinating shirts.

I'd start with Abercrombie, American Eagle ... these are everywhere now! Yes, a T-shirt underneath ... any color.

DS is a first year college student. He’s never been interested in clothes and has no idea what’s “in” but does want to blend in - in HS he exclusively wore sweats and hoodies and tshirts (the brands were irrelevant but he wanted no obvious logos or labels) and asics sneakers.

He now goes to a small NE liberal arts college. He still dresses the same but he apparently wears khaki pants, too (he’s got pairs from j crew and abercrombie, I sent him with them in case he ever needed to dress nicely, I didn’t realize he’d start wearing them regularly). He just asked me for flannel shirts for Christmas.

My question is for a kid like this, who isn’t label focused but does want to blend, where would you shop for these? I wouldn’t describe him with any particular style, but I suppose if I had to describe him I’d say he’s slightly preppy-outdoorsy. Also, do guys this age wear plain tshirts underneath the flannel shirts?
