Talk to text software on their laptop and copies of all class notes. These may not apply to your third grader, but keep them in mind for when they’re older.

I also recommend keeping an eye on their writing abilities as my child has difficulty with this as well. He can tell you a great long story, but just has trouble putting it on paper and his handwriting is poor.

With Bookshare and Learning Ally, your student can get an audiobook version of pretty much any middle, high school or college textbook. You can speed them up, which a lot of people like to do.
I've heard good things about ASDEC, but haven't tried them. Kids Up Reading Coaches uses OG and is great.

My daughter was just diagnosed with mild dyslexia (stealth dyslexia) through an outside practitioner. She is in MCPS third grade.

We are in the process of setting up a meeting with our school. We have recommendations from our evaluation, which includes Orton Gillingham structured literacy intervention, extended time for timed tests, multi sensory instruction, and some others.

I’m interested in hearing from parents who have kiddos with similar learning challenges and your experience with requests from your school. What accommodations have you requested that have been especially helpful.

I’ve seen past posts recommending an ASDEC tutor. Any different with an Orton Gillingham certified tutor?

Also for those in middle and high school, have they been able to accommodate your student. I’m especially concerned as I know the amount of reading required is a lot in high school.
