Yep, only accessible by NCAA members. Or just see the public posts on X. I already count two players tied to BP that he's trying to help get exposure that only spent a year after committing to college and are now looking for new homes.

Not new. And the great players never do this. They already have a plan and do not have to beg other schools for a spot.

There are some great players who did post this cycle.

Wonder how many players are freshman, who didn't do enough due diligence and realized only after committing that it wasn't a good fit, vs players that have multiple years under theit belt and are looking for another, possibly better opportunity.

This year is a whole new game.

I have a freshman in another sport who is at a great fit and is super happy, but who's roster is going to be cut by 1/3. I think at this point, they will enter the portal because they are not done with their sport.

To be frank, regardless of the sport if a player is being cut down for roster size, they were disposable. Programs aren't cutting starting/potential starting caliber players.

I suppose it also depends what aspect of fit we are discussing. My kid committed at 16, did what I believe was an appropriate amount of “due diligence” on fit. Picked the right school, location, and people; loves everything so far, and that’s the point I was making. Still will absolutely be cut if numbers are expected.

If we refer to athletic fit, well, all I can say to that is that things can change physically for the athlete and within a program in the two years between commitment and arrival. Not to mention what happened with the landscape of the sport/conference/NCAA that could not have been predicted. The sport will have to restructure “game day lineups” and may be in big trouble with reserves for illness/injury/academic issues. This also takes away development potential which is also common in the sport. It’s a tough place to be this year specifically. My kid will be able to be competitive (“start”) in another program, but will have to really think about what they are willing to give up from current fit if they want to continue the sport next year.

I always thought commuting boys start if junior year was ridiculous. I see such changes in players (I have 4 sons) in those last few years of high school, early college. Some stars really fade and when they arrive at college 2 years later do t produce.

My own kids were around 5’9” start of junior year and 6 feet and pounds more muscle by start of college. They now had size to match all the technical attributes and a lot more speed. It’s why coaches are in the portal— star recruits are duds a lot of the time.

Does anyone have a good link to a primer on these changes and effects? My kid is younger so I haven't been paying attention - but probably should.

Plenty of great players playing in the NCAA tournament at their second school.

You will NEVER know. There are billions of reasons to transfer. Most of them have nothing to do with soccer.
