If they live with you, it would seem like people could take turns visiting with your elder (sounds like they are bed bound).

If you’re doing full time elder care and hosting, cater a buffet.

So what's your plan? Not eat either because your elder cannot? You're going to die with them?

Well if you cannot bear to host with Elders not eating, someone else has to step up and host the 8/9 at their place. You sit home with your Elders if that's what you all want.

No wont be able to have a single thing.
Nor be able to be a part of it in the room.

So have the meal and then the whole group goes for an extended visit. Maybe have pie? They might enjoy the aroma.. Ask them about TG when they were little or try to inspire old family stories another way. Take lots of pictures.

Haven't thought about it this way.

I cant imagine having a table full of food when an elder is suffering.

I would. My mom would have felt awful to think people weren’t having Thanksgiving bc of her. Plus the food is only part of it; the rest is the coming together.

Sure then have a dinner. Ask parents if they would like to attend or just have a visit from everyone.

Are you having one if your parents are sick, and cannot eat solids?
