Omg. Stop listening to wellness grifters.

Exactly. Our digestive system doesn’t need optimization. Lol

I’ve done a three day Pressed Juicery cleanses but that’s as far as I’ve gone. Once a year.

I like having one of their juices for breakfast, one of their protein shakes for lunch and then a sensible dinner on a regular basis.

I decided to replace all refined carbs with whole grain or complex carbs, and eat way less than before.

The extra fiber helps me feel full and compensates for the reduced portions. I can't actually process too much fiber, so there's a natural limit to how much of it I can eat. It's a very useful restriction in terms of weight loss, and it also keeps me healthy.

So instead of 2 slices of white bread, for example, I have 1 slice of whole grain bread. Which also reduces the amount of toppings/sandwich fixings I put on the slice. Instead of pasta or rice, I have whole grain rice or whole wheat pasta, or farro or buckwheat grains, less than half as much as I used to eat.

I have not reduced my green veggy intake, and instead of reducing protein, I choose lean protein instead of fatty meats.

I had awful blood sugar drops while juicing. Had to stop.

I can see doing it for a wedding or event as PP said but it's obviously not going to be a long term solution because you're eventually going to eat.

When I was trying to drop a few lbs for my wedding I did juicing. I only replaced one meal - the rest I just ate healthy-ish/lower carb foods. I made a green juice - spinach, apple, ginger, lemon and cayenne. It did work, but its not magic. Its the same as reducing your calories any other way.

I did a research study once and got a free juicer and bloodwork etc to measure weight loss and other markers. Due to all fiber being removed when juicing, I was literally hungry all the time. I craved nuts, lentils, seeds, bc I had no fiber. That was my experience

don’t do it. You need solid, sustainable lifestyle change.

Define “extended time?” Like until you pass out?

I'm the first poster after OP. The OP asked about juice cleanses for weight loss - not for resets.

Then you do what the poster above my comment outlines. You can reset your system a couple times a year doing these liquid cleanses, it’s fine; it’s just a factory reset, not for your lifestyle.

It’s a great way to cleanse your body! You don’t do it for weight loss, you do it alongside enemas to clean and optimize your digestive system.

I know you haven’t asked for our opinions on this, but it’s a terrible idea. You’ll lose weight and gain it right back the minute you eat food, not to mention you’ll screw up your metabolism in the process. You need to find a weight loss system that is sustainable. Figure out your maintenance calories, reduce them by a few hundred to be in a calorie deficit, and walk 10-15k steps per day. Weight loss is only about calories. That’s literally it. If you’re in a deficit, you will lose weight. If you’re not losing weight, you are not in a deficit.

If so what worked and what did you drink?
