Exactly. More than enough ultra qualified students. It will still be lottery-ish.

Northwestern was also an absolute bloodbath last year in RD. This is the first year that I know of that our college office told seniors that if they want NU, they have to ED.

NU is just very popular this year. Almost 10% of our private put an ED app in there (if the kid rumor mill can be believed)

It's possible that NU's ED app volume increased, but I doubt TO has anything to do with it. Instead, I would suspect prestige hunters noticing its slightly better US News rank.
