I have picked up during this time before. Obviously not on a regular basis. I've never heard of it not being allowed... So if you have a kid's medical appointment, you'd have to pick them up extra early even though it's not necessary for the appointment?

Yes. So that you aren't getting in the way of regular dismissal. School gets out at the same time EVERY DAY. Plan your appointments as necessary. It's not that hard.

I guess we have a more flexible school. Kids have left near bell time a lot, since I can see them leaving while I am waiting to enter the lot.

OP, you obviously want us to tell you that this is ok.

It is not.

It is not a reasonable request. It's disruptive to the classroom teacher to dismiss your child when they are still trying to wrap up class for the day for the other 22-25 children in the classroom.

There are no times opening up. The center is the only one around us (none in our town). We have been waiting since last year and there is just the one spot we would take.

DD tested into a math enrichment class 15 minutes away. Unfortunately, the only available class meets 15 minutes after the last school bell (and you know it takes time to be dismissed and get to the car). I don't want her to be 5-10 minutes late every single class. Do you think it would be unreasonable for me to pick DD up 10 minutes early every Monday afternoon? The issue is that it's a fairly large school (400 kids) and the pre-K program lets out 15-30 minutes before the upper grades, so it is kind of a hectic time in the school lot. My other question is whether all these count as unexcused early release (10 minutes a week through the rest of the year). What do you think? I have no idea if this is a non-issue or an unreasonable thing to ask of the school.
