I don’t think anyone has the fandom that BTS has in its army. Look at Jimmy Fallon, he’s a huge supporter. Jin’s album comes out this week now that he’s served his time in the military.

People just become interested in them. Sometimes it can remain a healthy interest and just becomes a little something on the side. My little sister has some Harry Styles magazines, keychain, and other merch and could tell you quite a bit of info on him. She follows a few fan accounts on SM. But she doesn't have any expectation of meeting him or thinking she knows him or any of that. Now some people in the fandom can get sucked into parasocial relationships, which she had shown me and I looked into because I found it quite interesting. Obviously at that level, it's not healthy.

I understand liking a singer, a politician, an athlete, an actor, a preacher or whomever but how people become fans and why?
