How does a parent know if they even want to apply without the score though?
If it's not clear your kid needs AAP without the CogAt score they probably don't need AAP.
If you don't want to do the work for the packet you can just roll the dice on being in pool
Even if you're in pool, doing the packet is very helpful. It allows you to present your case that your child requires advanced academics. Otherwise you don't get to make that case and rely on the teacher and AART making it for you.
Can you please explain what being in the pool means? Private parent learning. I thought the only way to get into an AAP program is to go to school that offers and complete the AAP process. Asking for FCPS middle school.

I thought it was Jan 24, 2025 per the website? I am just beginning to read up as we just recently decided not to continue with private next year so scrambling to put it all together. Seems I missed today's deadline for the submission. Am I talking of something entirely different? I just posted so trying to learn.

Is your child's NNAT score in the 90%+ ? Is your child intellectually curious? Is your child able to focus on certain thing he/she interested in for a long time? Can you have an intelligent conversation with your child?
Additionally, many parents WANT to apply even without knowing all the above. They just WANT their child in AAP.
It's hard to answer how does a parent know they want to do anything.
They haven't taken the NNAT yet (new to school)
