Hertz is unloading their EV's and have/had some Chevy Bolts available.

+1

I love my xc40. Better visibility out the back than the c40. Zippy and comfortable. Good for commuting, but doesn't have range for longer road trips IMO.

These C40’s look really nice. Any drawbacks?

So we bought a 2023 and the dealership extended the warranty to 2028. You can get some low mileage ones under 5 k .. just shop around and don’t worry about color. Also the ultimate seems to hold its price after one year vs other packages. There is a range difference on post 2023.

Hyundai and Kia had some really nice leases going. In September you could lease for 3 years and paid a total of $11.400(down payment and monthly).

https://www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/offers/detail?Model=KONA%20Electric&ModelYear=2025&YrSerCd=2025Q&ModelGroupCd=Q004&TrimName=SEL&OfferType=Lease

Looks like $189-$277 a month depending on model. The SEL is $209 a month.

Look at Kia. I am seeing them everywhere.

The new electric Chevy Equinox is a really good value.

DP here. I lease a 2023 C40.

Cons: poor visibility out rear window (similar to other brands in the same type of body style like the Genesis)
Intermittent electrical oddities (mirrors don't tilt down when in reverse like 30% of the time, on rare occasion the maps are "unavailable"- just weird stuff like that that fixes itself).
Lower range of 240 (didn't matter to me due to lease, not purchase for the long haul).

Pros- zippy to drive (I came from a minivan)
like the map/navigation right in front of me behind the steering wheel
360 camera is amazing (in the ultimate package)

A used Bolt or Bolt EUV might be a good deal and work well for you.

Look at a Kia Niro. I really like mine, though I got the hybrid because EVs weren't available in this area yet at that time.

We have a Chevy Bolt, and we love it. I think they stopped making them after the 2023 model year, but you may be able to buy used.

If you make less than $150,000 a year, the best deals are used EVs costing $25k or less. You will get a $4,000 tax rebate. The used cars have to be two years old going by model year. So, on January 1, lots of 2023s will be eligible. You can already look at 2022 model year cars.

I'm commuting more for work and would like to consider at EV. What's the most affordable way to get one? A small commuter one is fine, I don't need extended mileage. I'm looking for value and don't have a big budget. Thanks.
