I’m in a red state this week and there didn’t appear to be any hoarding going on. That said, I’m sure they don’t believe anything bad will come from the proposed tariffs, so they don’t have any reason to worry. I did buy a package of hot links to bring back with me because I can’t get them in the DMV. LOL

I just keep a backup supply of everything nonperishable. That's just smart household management.

Do you guys understand the President cannot single handed enact tariffs. Congress/Senate might never pass those and if they do it’s not day 1. No I dont think anyone is hoarding anything - I think you’re seeing people start to stock up 3 weeks before Thanksgiving and ahead of Christmas. Use your brains for gods sake.

There was never a shortage people panic shopped. I know people who still have toilet paper in their garages.

I did hoard Levi 501s on Amazon today on sale for Christmas presents. I remember a lot of places ran out of essentials like this by Dec.

Trader Joes was wiped out of things today, but that's because it's Sunday afternoon. The trucks come in later. No one's hoarding.

It's also a key time of year for food drives. I just set out a bag of shelf stable stuff for the BSA to pick up yesterday.

An observation I made today while grocery shopping — many key staples (all shelf stable stuff) were sold out today. This may be coincidence or just a matter of restocked not coming by yet but it got me thinking about whether particularly in the DMV folks are starting to anticipate what’s to come (ala the beginning of COVID) with tariffs and the like. I know some think prices will come down, but I suspect many like me think we’re about to really go into a recession….
