You could cook an entire turkey on the grill and then put the shrimp skewers on while the turkey rests before carving. Just cook a little smaller turkey so it will fit on your grill - they turn out the same as in the oven but with better skin. Will not take like smoke unless you add wood chips on purpose.

What about shrimps? Skewered. Everyone gets a skewer or two of shrimp. I'd love that, and it's light, which will be nice with so many heavy foods around it.

+1 to spatchcokcking the turkey

You could also do the same with chicken(s)

Turkey breast is great in the grill, especially if you brine it

Cornish hens are also amazing on the grill

Spatchcock the turkey and it'll cook just fine on the grill. If that worries you, part it into quarters and grill them.

Otherwise, I'd get a bunch of Cornish game hens, split them all in half, and grill them.

My DH has cooked a turkey breast on the grill many times. He would place the breast in an aluminum foil pan.

Smoke the turkey. Lower and slower than regular grilling, but it will give a gorgeous mahogany color to the skin if you brine it ahead of time. You can spatchcock the both or smoke it whole. Either way, beautiful and delicious.

We are going to grill spatchcocked bone in breasts, boneless breasts would work well too. We have done a whole bird but want easy this year.

I’ve cooked the turkey on the grill before with no problems (as you said it was great to have it out of the kitchen but downside is you don’t get that “turkey is roasting” smell in the house).

Assuming your grill has a cover I am not sure why you think it would be a problem?

Steak? Grilled chicken? Or get a turkey fryer and fry a turkey.

I’d love to make the main/protein on the grill this year for thanksgiving, so the oven can be used for cooking sides. I’m intimidated of grilling a whole turkey, worried it wont cook through. What other main dish can I make on the grill that could be thanksgivibg appropriate.
