I’m the poster with the 12yo who wants a bread maker. I was a list person until about 2 years ago. This age is hard though and I find DD asks for things that she thinks are cool or fun looking but once the novelty has worn it gets stuck on a shelf unused.
She will ask for toys because she thinks she wants them but doesnt really play with toys anymore.

Same. I have two teen daughters and two long lists from each of them 😂

Experience gifts are good for this age too. My DD is a swimmer and one of her presents is going to Charlottesville in February for a UVA meet and we will spend the night in a fun hotel, go to a good restaurant for dinner, get some UVA swimming merch, etc.

She’s sporty and doesn’t like shopping or malls really. She loved the Dicks gift card we gave her for her birthday so might do one of those again.
She wants a light up soccer ball. Friends have one and it’s fun when they’re playing outside after dinner at this time of year.

Like others, I do get a short list from DD, 12. Gift card to B&N, hoodie & sweatpants from Aerie, and just went into Child's Play to get a surprise gift as the staff always seems to have good ideas for my somewhat quirky kid. Ended up getting a Rolife scene and some art supplies. Honestly, while my DD appreciates the gifts, stocking stuffers is where she seems to get excited.

are any hoodies cool right now? My tween son likes some youtuber personalities (I know, I know) so I would need to order "merch" relatively early.

Waiting for lists but got a zip up hoodie, flannel PJ pants and those hybrid pants for my teen son because I know he needs them. He’ll ask for upgrades for his gaming computer.

Teen daughter is compiling a list with links.

College students all I’ve got so far is electric hand warmer and warmer socks for her stocking.

They are so picky it’s now taken most of the job out of holiday shopping. I used to spent a lot of time picking out things that matched their interests and so forth but now they really only want what they want.

Same here. I ask DC for ideas and get an email complete with photos and links. I choose a few from there, then add a surprise or two (this year the surprise is a teddy bear made from some of her grandfather's old shirts, since he passed away a couple of months ago...while it wasn't on her list, probably because of the cost, I do know she wanted one).
