Nebraska, North Carolina and Maine are the only opportunities while Virginia, Michigan, Georgia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have to be defended.

The party is going to have to decentralize and re-set.

The ONE bill that was an actual compromise bill over the last 4 years was immigration reform. It was authored by a conservative republican, the Dems didn't get nearly the things they wanted in it - analysts said it was titled 80% to the GOP in terms of policy, despite a dem senate and dem president and STILL the GOP opposed it.

The kind where we don't blow up hard fought deals because folks want a wedge issue to run for office on. Roe v Wade was the best compromise. If you want an abortion fine if you don't fine. Everyone gets the effective safe healthcare they need. And yet...

The kind where we acknowledge that it probably isn't good for the country in 2025 to have every state devising their own education rules, curriculum, standardized test, graduation requirements, etc., because we acknowledge that people move around and business can and does seek talent from greater distances.

To say the bolded is to show you that you really, really don't understand where the pro-life movement is coming from and haven't taken them seriously. I get that there are many in the movement who don't deserve to be taken seriously, so maybe it's those people's fault, but still. Maybe you should steelman that, and the education arguments on the other side.

And the pro-life movement you describe doesn't understand the medical realities of pregnancies and that sometimes, a woman needs an abortion to be able to live or have another baby in the future. See the problem?
