Is there one for DC or the Montgomery Co suburbs? DS is looking for a new team for spring/summer. U11 eligible but has played up. Would welcome if the team is going to Cooperstown.

I don't know the exact location of these teams, but NVTBL lists KOA Waves and Kidball Cardinals as being in MoCo and WinWithin is a DC team. There are probably Facebook pages for travel baseball in your area as well but you'll need to just look around. You might have to join one for all of MD, as I'm not sure there would be one for MoCo only, but I don't know.

Just go play in the MCLL. If your kid is good, he will be in the majors division. If your kid wants more, he can also do one of the MCLL affiliated travel teams. If your kid is a top level player, they will play as an All-Star and try get to the LLWS.

our travel team was invite only for tryouts. but you could try contacting the head of the league to see if they will do a one-off try out.

Primetime recently had a tryouts, st James had a tryout and stars is later this month… all the rest do invite only tryouts to fill miscellaneous roster spots. The ones who have big tryouts now for spring season are usually the ones who desperately need players or money or both.

The important thing to know is that all these organizations are the same. So even if someone says it’s bad on this forum, they are probably right, but they are also all bad. They are all run by young guys who are very disorganized. Even if an organization says that tryouts now ate for the entirety of 2025, that just means they will keep you in the organization for the whole year. They will still have another tryout for team placement at the end of the spring season. Your child could get moved to practice squad or a B team depending in who shows up for tryouts. The owners are just trying to multiply, divide, and make money wherever the money is. If your child takes a lot of private lessons with the org then they will be invested in developing their talent, if not then you are just a number on their roster. But again, they all operate this way. I’d find the least “serious” team possible and start as young as possible.

I wish there were any easier way to find out about tryouts but here is what I have done, as a parent who is relatively new to all this.

I joined a Virginia travel baseball Facebook page. It seems to be state-wide so 90% of the posts are for teams out of this area. But now I see local teams are posting for tryouts, so it did end up being helpful. Second, even though the NVTBL site is not great, they have a list of all the teams by age group, so I just did a google search on each team that appeared to be somewhat in my area and most of them seems to have websites.

For what it's worth, tryouts for spring 2025 do seem to be happening now. If you missed them, I think it's worth reaching out to see if you can get a private tryout, because at least based on all the various tryout announcements I've seen, it seems like at least some teams are open to doing that.

Teams ARE holding tryouts for Spring (typically 14u and younger) and Summer 2025 (generally summer tryouts are for 15u and up since those age groups won't play travel ball in spring due to high school ball).

I think most teams are rounding out their roster for spring 2025 if they're playing spring ball. I'd look for teams' social media pages to see when their tryouts are though I bet many have already occurred. You can always reach out to teams to ask for private tryouts as they may have a few spots open.

I'm in your general area and can think of Metro Senators, Pioneer Legends, Prime Time Aces, Springfield Sharks, VA Cobras, Advanced Baseball, NOVA Bears, and Stars (so many Stars teams) off the top of my head.

Are any of these orgs notably better at developing players than others? Current end goal is simply to play in high school. thx

Nova Bears seems to have been created as a tax write off to get the org’s sons looked at by college scouts. We’ve been less than impressed with their level of coaching.

Go on the nvtbl site and see if any teams are still looking for a player.

Have a 2012 player interested in trying out for/moving to travel possibly next year, which I thought meant starting for the 2025-2026 Fall-Spring cycle, but today I randomly came across a travel club that was hosting 2025 tryouts now.
When are the annual tryouts typically held -- now or some other time? (I'm wondering if tryouts being held now are for the next YEAR or just to round out team's rosters for Spring?)
If a player misses the tryout window are any teams generally open to a late tryout?
What are travel teams in the Burke, Fairfax, Annandale, Springfield area worth looking into? I figure I need to go to each team's website to see if they are having tryouts, and I tried the NTBL site trying to find a list of teams but it looked outdated hence why I'm on here. And I feel like a lot of baseball teams are like AAU basketball teams where they don't even have a website so trying to contact someone is really difficult.
thanks
