Lots of times even up through high school level foreign language, they’ll just give you a video to show the kids. You don’t actually have to teach the kids the language.

I've subbed for FLES that was not Spanish and it was part of the specials schedule.

I've also subbed for ESOL in an ES, but the students seemed to mostly know English and had a variety of native languages.

FLES is foreign language (in) elementary school. The students are English learners learning Spanish primarily.

ESOL is English as second language so these children speak a different primary language than English. Yes it is best If you speak that language to help these children understand their assignments as they may have limited English.

In addition, it’s not like the FLES teacher provides a break for the classroom racer. When I taught, FLES was not a special and we were required to stay in the room. Please fill a classroom position, if one is available.

The FLES teacher teaches in the target language. I would accept a different job.

Do I need to know Spanish for this elementary school assignment? Don’t want to make a fool of myself before accepting ot.
