Report back on what you end up doing, thanks.

Try offerup, nextdoor, freecycle, Facebook marketplace or the buy nothing groups. It's really hard to get rid of heavy items so you may have to pay someone to get rid of it if none of the above works.

My parents inherited a pool table. They had to cut it into pieces and send it to the dump.

Always make the prior owner remove it. Everyone learns this the hard way.

You were a sucker for letting the previous owners leave it there. There's no way you're getting rid of it for free.

You will use a pool table for much longer than you will want to kick a soccer ball around inside your house.

Pay to have it hauled away.

You really don't want to give it to some random guy who wants to try and move it himself. They're big and heavy if he doesn't know what he's doing he can easily damage your home or hurt himself, which could become your problem. He could also damage the table, at which point he would probably abandon it and now you're faced with paying to have a heavy and bulky piece of trash removed.

If the new owner isn't willing to pay for professional moving they're not serious. You have to know what you're doing to set it up again after it's been taken apart.

You should be able to give it away and insist that it be professionally moved. About ten years ago I bought a pool table off of Craigslist and my recollection is it cost about $500 to have it professionally moved. There's a guy, I think his name is Chris, who does nothing but move and assemble pool tables around the DC area. He moved our table when we bought it, and when we were done with it we gave it away and the recipients used him too.

My advice is don't list it for free, list it for a ridiculously low price like $50. There's something about human psychology that draws people to free stuff. You want someone who wants a pool table.

Contact local ymca or church with active youth group or college campus interfraternity council to ask if any fraternities would like to have a pool table donated. Just make sure they understand that pickup is required.

We inherited one from the previous owners, its nice but taking up so much space we can use for soccer games with our young kids. But I dont want to pay $$$$ for only getting rid of it. Any experience?
