Oh please. OP was bemoaning her looks. PP pointed out that a warm, friendly smile makes people look more attractive. It's true for men and women. Take or leave the suggestion, but it's not wrong.

I just try to wear cute clothes and glasses, and not look in the mirror too much

Be kind to yourself. Get together with your friends because that helps. You’re not the only one that feels like this. You are in a new phase of life where accessories and confidence goes a long way. When you feel up to it maybe go to Sephora and have a look around. Maybe try a new hairdresser.

It's a good thing your self-worth isn't completely in the hands of how you look then, right?

At some point we all peak and then age. It's ok. Aging is a gift. Have you ever lost someone well before their time? Do you think their advice to from the beyond would be to worry about your face more?

Good makeup and hair can do wonders. If you have bad skin, go see a derm.

I’m sorry that you feel this way. It’s hard to hear, and I don’t even know you! But is there anything that makes you feel good about yourself? Like a long shower with nice-smelling bath products, or new pajamas or perfume? Start there. I’m sure you wouldn’t speak (or think) that way about a friend of yours, so be kind to yourself.

OP, it was hard to read your post. I hate that you feel this way. Are you in therapy? I'm not one to suggest therapy for every little thing (even though I'm a therapist, I don't think therapy is always called for), but I actually think it could be helpful with this.

All to say, there are so many more dimensions to beauty than just looks. You can even do a lot with fashion, but also consider your voice, your graciousness, your warmth and what you give to others.

This is hard for me to write, but my mom has been gone 8 years now. Her looks were rough, but she was remembered by all as an elegant woman. I think it’s how she made herself up very simply with little makeup and wore rational clothes beautifully (she did not have nice western clothes) . But she had thin hair that was frizzy, a big mole, dark circles that were actual hyperpigmentation, and not hood teeth (she smiled without showing them). I loved my mom more than anyone, and to me she was beautiful, I loved her soft and large tummy, how she smelled of soap, and how her tiny ponytail curled in a spiral like a pig’s tail. She had a beautiful voice and loved her grandchildren, and was the best cook ever.

I realized today that I’m post prime and just ugly now. I hate my face. I hate taking pictures because I generally just dismayed with my face. I am fit and dress well. So there’s just nothing I can do.
