Playing for a club comes with advantages and disadvantages. The most important advantage is that the club knows what you are capable of and they would not replace you with a marginally better player. The most important disadvantage is that the club knows what you are capable of and they might want to replace you. It's a sign when former players don't receive an offer and the club keeps holding tryouts. Those former players may not receive a spot on the team unless the club fails to find a replacement.

NVVA's site shows another tryout session coming up this weekend for their XP program. That stuff's all new, so hard to predict how awesome it will be or how many they're still looking for (I think they've had two tryouts so far).

Evolution VB also runs an in-house rec program, as well as a travel-lite club version. Their tryouts at later this month. I wouldn't necessarily write them off - there are some good players who don't have the time available for a full club program but have the skills.

That might be true, but they also may still need players. You can have hundreds show up and make offers and few accept.
