In reality, it's the kid you get.

In practice, things are made easier or harder by the established dynamic between parent and child and how that dynamic is influenced by the parent's preconceived notions and sexism.

I also agree that you get the kid you get. But we had very difficult high school years for DD, sandwiched between 2 brothers who were both easy.

Agree.

I have a daughter that is challenging and a son that is a breeze. Both are great kids, just so different.

I'm a woman and was super easy to parent in HS (yes, mom agrees). My sister was super hard.

Girls were a breeze and delightful 99% of the time. Boy was incredibly difficult 80% of the time. Boys have a greater tendency to be violent.

I think there are more mental health issues in teen girls. Boys are generally just stupid.

Agree that it depends on the kid. Mine weren’t/aren’t bad. But my daughter has definitely been the easiest of the three. In all fairness to her brothers that is in part due to the fact that both brothers have special needs and that was a difficult time suck.

Obviously depends on the kid and the parent. In my case, the girl is much harder.

IDK but I am having the best of all my parenting time rn with my freshman DS. I know to enjoy it while it lasts but it’s just as if his energy matches mine now, we can reason about things and I am still an authority to him somewhat.
Unfortunately it was challenging for me to parent him 6-10 so it’s a relief now, knocking on wood.

It just depends on the kid

Of course, it really depends on the kid. Boys have just as intense emotions as girls, but they are less likely to tell you when they are struggling. Girls can seem harder because there is more emotional drama, but those big emotions are there with some boys too (and not some girls) you just have to push a little harder to see them.

Have one of each, and DD was definitely more difficult.

People will say girls bc there is bias and parents mostly mothers are harder on their daughters (less freedom bc misogyny …higher expectations on school etc) but I think girls are easier. I can live with the girl attitude, I can’t deal with the stagnant lazy energy of most teen boys.
