If you are a D1 swimmer, colleges come to you summer after sophomore year so you don’t have to ask this question. If you are a D3 swimmer, pick out colleges of interest and start sending emails. It’s really that simple.

The GPA doesn’t matter if your kid is truly an elite swimmer getting pursued by Power 4 schools.

Honestly, not sure why you are asking the question? As long as above NCAA minimums you are good.

There is a big difference from a swimmer fast enough for University of Florida or Bucknell. Both Division 1. So saying “assume DI” is not helpful. Power 4 schools- I’d look at Perdue and GA Tech and VA Tech for stem students, but generally I think large research universities all do STEM quite well. The bigger challenge will be smaller schools with strong stem. They exist, but you can’t assume all mid-size schools have excellent STEM. Emory is also great for science and one of the top DIII schools. JHU also DIII and known for sciences.

If they’re heavily recruited, the GPA will be a lot more negotiable.

Very much depends on the school. Need to talk with the coach.

The thing about scholarship has a complicated answer.

What does their coach say? They should have some idea of what level their swimmers should be aiming for—Division I? III? If I, are they scholarship or walk-on material?

It’s impossible to answer this question without a lot more information.

One more question. Budget? Are u looking for the best school/swim fit regardless of $ or looking for a scholarship?

I will be happy to make some suggestions. Need to know Male or Female? What is the fastest cut they have? Jr Nats, Futures, US Open etc.
