It's not always so simple. Sometimes its the ex-wife that's the issue.

In any event, you can tell a lot about a single parent with how they are with their kids. If that's not their priority, that's the red flag.

Depends on what proportion of his time with an awake child he is missing out on. If he is a widower or has near-100% custody I don't see anything bad about it.

Yes especially if the kids are young like under 3. It takes a lot for a woman to break up her family at that age of the children

Giving up on? Parents are allowed to have time away from their kids. Hiring a babysitter is a responsible way to be sure your kids are cared for while you go out and enjoy kid-free activities.

Red flags would be things like: bringing the kids on the date, leaving the kids in the car, leaving the kids home alone without supervision (unless they're old enough to responsibly handle that for a couple hours for a daytime date), leaving the kids with some random and/or irresponsible person just so they can go date...

How else would he go on a date?

How long have you been dating? What type of events is he getting a babysitter for? Just a random dinner or a black tie event? What is his relationship w his coparent like? How old are the kids? What % of time does he have the kids?

Green flag. I am divorced dad and I have 2 kids. The reason I am not dating is because I can't commit to regularly going out and giving time to someone else besides my kids.

So I am red flag and the guy you are dating is a green flag. The guy is willing to hire a babysitter just so he can take you out. He clearly thinks you are worth it.
