I think domestic vehicles may have improved but I still will purchase Honda or Toyota since these cars have been so good to me over the years and I am just a loyal consumer by nature.

I have a 2015 Chevy Volt I am the second owner of. It's by far the most reliable car I've ever driven. It just works, every time.

Also, in my experience, Fords have always been good. I think it has been the Chrysler/Dodge/Chevy vehicles that have historically been more dodgy. Chevy/GMC trucks have always seemed pretty solid, though.

My kid graduated college and started a new job driving into DC every day. Around 2 hours a day roundtrip. Part of DC not near metro and company has parking. I had a 2011 Cadillac that was my run errands extra car I let her use.

I gave my Japanese car to other kid to drive and at same time my Spouse got a new car and rather than trade in her 2012 GMC I decided to use it to drive to work every day on the Beltway, sometimes in one hour traffic.

Been a few months and neither the 13 or 12 year old car has had a single problem. And my kid has been driving it to visit friends, got to beach. It is back in service in a 12,000 a year role at year 13.

I think years ago these two American cars would be in Junkyard by now, instead they are both in 95 rush hour traffic every day.

Many all cars have gotten better who knows.
